Configuration of Dual antenna in ESP32 WROOM DA

Postby Vaibhav Singh » Sat Apr 22, 2023 12:37 pm

Hello Everyone

I was trying to check the signal strength of my wifi configured in an ESP32 WROOM DA module using its special dual antenna. But, although configuring each antenna as rx and tx I didn't find any major difference between the RSSI value of the DA module and normal esp 32 modules.

I just wanted to know if I was configuring the antenna correctly. Below is my attached code for setting the controller into STA mode.

Code: Select all

#include <string.h>
#include "freertos/FreeRTOS.h"
#include "freertos/task.h"
#include "freertos/event_groups.h"
#include "esp_system.h"
#include "esp_wifi.h"
#include "esp_event.h"
#include "esp_log.h"
#include "nvs_flash.h"

#include "lwip/err.h"
#include "lwip/sys.h"
#include "esp_wifi_types.h"

/* The examples use WiFi configuration that you can set via the project configuration menu

   If you'd rather not, just change the below entries to strings with
   the config you want - ie #define EXAMPLE_WIFI_SSID "mywifissid"
*/

#define EXAMPLE_ESP_WIFI_SSID "MI_EDPL"
#define EXAMPLE_ESP_WIFI_PASS "miwifi_edpl" // 5Dbi Antenna Distance approx 60-70 Ft from AP with multiple Walls and Obstacles in between(JR Automation)
#define EXAMPLE_ESP_MAXIMUM_RETRY 30

/* FreeRTOS event group to signal when we are connected*/
static EventGroupHandle_t s_wifi_event_group;

/* The event group allows multiple bits for each event, but we only care about two events:
 * - we are connected to the AP with an IP
 * - we failed to connect after the maximum amount of retries */

Below are the values of rssi I am getting from both modules. I don't see much of a difference here and I feel like the DA module should perform much better than this

Please let me know If I am doing something wrong in my code.

Hello @ ESP_alisitsyn can you help me in identifying the problem above? I am trying to configure the DUAL antenna in the DA module in AUTO mode.
