ESP32 Wroom32 + MSP2515 i dont get it work

Postby Michael39GT » Sat Feb 18, 2023 11:58 pm

Hallo my name is Michael and i am 41. I want to read out can the can bus from my car and put it to a smal display.

I still bought an AZ Delivery ESP32 Dev Kit V2 ESP32 Wroom32 and and MCP2515_CAN.

I installed Arduino IDE and prepared all the librarys what i need. I use as board : ESP32 Wroom DA Module and the libary MCP_Can.

what i did:

i tryed to get start the example sketch "CAN_Loopback". My first problem, i dont find a documentary for the PINOUT. What board i have ? ESP32 Wroom ? or ESP32 DEV Kit ? Sorry but i am a beginner and these are my first steps...

I get it work that i can upload sketches on the board. I use KDE Linux and Arduino IDE. I connected the MCP2515 to 5V and Ground (written on the board). Then my main problem: how i can find what is PIN 1,2,3,4,5 and what is GPIO4, GPIO5 and so on ? both are the sames ?

I connected INT to PIN 02 (G2) and CS to S01.

I start the serial Monitor in Arduino IDE and i get this:

load:0x3fff0030,len:1344
load:0x40078000,len:13836
load:0x40080400,len:3608
entry 0x400805f0
Entering Configuration Mode Failure...
Error Initializing MCP2515...
MCP2515 Library Loopback Example...
Message Sent Successfully!

Why i get the config mode Failure ? The baudrate are both the same 115200.
And i see only always "Message Send Successfully". When i turn of the INT Pin then i get :

Standard ID: 0x000 DLC: 0 Data:
Standard ID: 0x000 DLC: 0 Data:

Somebody can help me ? What is my fault ? The other Pins SI/SO/SCK/CS i dont know what to do with this. i know its a SPI = Databus.

Sorry but i am sitting here 15 hours over 2 days. I dont know what to do and i was looking in the internet over many hours. Thank you

Hey, maybe this will help with the wiring?
https://copperhilltech.com/blog/esp32-t ... 515-ports/

I also had to cross-reference https://www.espressif.com/sites/default ... en.pdf#spi to find the actual pins on the ECS32 board
