What does "Reset due to power-on event" means?

Postby crgarcia » Sun Aug 07, 2022 7:37 pm

I have an ESP32 with ESPHome.
From time to time, it resets by itself. I suspect a problem with power or spikes (since many times it happens exactly after energizing a relay.
When I read the reset_reason, I get

Code: Select all

[21:20:13][D][debug:199]: Reset Reason: Power On Reset
[21:20:13][D][debug:244]: Wakeup Reason: Unknown
What does it actually means?

Some more logs:

Code: Select all

[21:20:13][D][debug:061]: ESPHome version 2022.6.2
[21:20:13][D][debug:065]: Free Heap Size: 248736 bytes
[21:20:13][D][debug:095]: Flash Chip: Size=4096kB Speed=40MHz Mode=DIO
[21:20:13][D][debug:132]: Chip: Model=ESP32, Features=WIFI_BGN,BLE,BT, Cores=2, Revision=3
[21:20:13][D][debug:140]: ESP-IDF Version: v3.3.5-1-g85c43024c
[21:20:13][D][text_sensor:067]: 'Device Info': Sending state '2022.6.2|Flash: 4096kB Speed:40MHz Mode:DIO|Chip: ESP32 Features:WIFI_BGN,BLE,BT, Cores:2 Revision:3|ESP-IDF: v3.3.5-1-g85c43024c|Reset: Power On Reset|Wakeup: Unknown'
Thanks!

2 possible reasons:
- power supply problems, or just disconnect and reconnect power supply
- EN pin connected to GND
