External Oscillator on AI Thinker CAM module

Postby Gitprodenv » Mon Jun 06, 2022 1:54 pm

Hello,

I want to add an external 32.768kHz oscillator to the ESP32 AI Thinker CAM module, planning for a more accurate wakeup timer (to wake my ESP32 up at specific timer invervals more accurately) and for BLE light sleep mode.

The issue is, that I need GPIO32 (32K_XP) and GPIO33 (32K_XN) pins as connections to the crystall oscillator, but at the same time they are required for the camera module to work properly.

As I see in the hardware_design_guidelines they state:
"if the RTC source is not required, then pin12 (32K_XP) and pin13 (32K_XN) can be used as GPIOs"

If I only plan to use a deepsleep wakeup timer and a light sleep mode BLE where my camera is not initialized, could it work?
