ADC2 with Wifi start/stop

I need to use ADC2_7 and ADC2_8, but I see that ADC2 is not supported. As it is too late in the project to change course, I'm stuck for now. Even if I could, all ADC1 pins are currently dedicated GPIO, and freeing up 2 pins would require a hardware rework.

I see here:https://github.com/espressif/esp-idf/pull/466 that ADC 2 is tied up in wi-fi control. While my project is using wifi, it is only on once an hour to transmit a datalog.
