Low quality audio (voice only) using mesh

Hi all.

New to esp32 so please forgive me. Before I spend hours delving into this I thought I'd ask the experts first.

Looking to develop a system where voice gets passed around a small network, like an intercom style. Each set-up will be different, some could be small, some could be over largish area, so a meshing concept would be fantastic.

A quick search hasn't found much in where people are using meshing with audio. Is that because it doesn't work? Being voice only im hoping the bandwidth would be ok.
