I'm trying to integrate a D1 mini to a PCB I'm designing, and not sure what the best way to attach it is. I'm trying to keep the PCB as thin as possible so I'd rather not add headers.
Is there some clever way to attach this board to a PCB?
Thanks for any help or suggestions.
How to connect a D1 Mini to a PCB?
Re: How to connect a D1 Mini to a PCB?
You can do this 2 ways.
#1) Create the PCB to use headers like you normally would. Place the D1 on top of your PCB. From the bottom side of your PCB, insert the headers through until they just hit the top edge of the D1 then solder them from each side and snip off the excess. I.E. your just using the header pin material and not the spacer.
#2) Create your PCB using square pads for where the through hole header would be. Then you can simply place the D1 on your PCB and solder through the header holes down though to your square pad on your PCB. You will need to make a cutout for any parts on the bottom side of the D1 so it sits flat on your PCB.
