Interesting but for (my) industrial control I'd not use wifi. There are already lots of wires so ethernet is only one more, and often it is all inside a metal box making built in wifi a problem - it's also not that reliable in congested environments made worse by only doing 2.4GHZ

One of the major esp32 advantages is built in ethernet, coupled with PoE you have a reliable network with easy remote power control should your software be not quite so reliable.

The other thing that stands out is it looks hard wired, I'd normally use a two part connector to make replacing the unit quick and less damaging on the wiring

You've got the right collection of IO. Is there a MODBUS driver for the RS485?

Thanks for the feedback.
Now we are offering NORVI IIoT with IPX external antenna connector allowing users to connect a remote antenna and take it out of the panel.
Definitely it would be great if we could put in a removable terminal instead of fixed screw terminals. We moved into screw-less spring terminals in our current developments. We will definitely make it one in the to do list.
We have received many requests to add Ethernet connectivity with PoE and we are working on it.

We have left possibility to add more communications features to the device as expansion modules.
The expansion modules are connected to the 10 pin IDC header on the right hand side of the device.
LoRa, NB-IoT and several analog input types are offered in expansion modules.

The device is with https://github.com/bertmelis/esp32ModbusRTU library and it works fine as a Modbus slave.
