Voltage Drop - Serial Com.

Postby mynames » Wed Oct 02, 2019 3:11 pm

Hello community!

I am currently working with Serial Communication between ESP32 and a weight balance.
The weight balance TX / RX serial output works with 4.2 V, and as the ESP32 requires 3.3 V there should be a voltage drop.
I have also seen some voltage regulators (such as LM2596) being used with this purpose.

I have no experience with serial communication, so I don't know what kind of trouble I could face in either scenarios (e.g. loss of data, noise, delays..). Do you guys have any experience to share?

Also, if I choose to add resistors to drop the voltage (See Attachment), is there an ideal current value that should flow to ESP32 GPIO's? (The resistance ESP32 adds to the circuit is not known, so I am planning on using low resistance resistors to avoid current flowing to ESP32).

Thanks in advance!
