ESP8266-DEVKITC Communication

I purchased an ESP8266-DEVKITC-02U-F from Digi-Key but haven't been able to communicate with it using a Windows 10 PC. When I plug in a USB cable, the module Red LED lights up but no COM port device is created. I have read and downloaded many Espressif documents and read the FAQ, but nothing refers specifically to the ESP8266-DEVKITC module. I will be using the more current ESP32 devices as well, but would like to try using this ESP8266 module as an IOT web server. Please let me know if you have any advice on using this module.

Are you sure you're using an USB cable capable of data transfers, and not one that is power-only?

ESP_Sprite - yep that was it. I have a bunch of USB Micro B cables and thought the non-data ones were all marked, but no - the first two I tried didn't work, but the third worked. Thanks for the suggestion!

A pox on power-only cables, been bitten once or twice by that myself. Glad you managed to solve it!
