Is possible to obtain WIFI CSI without connection?

I have read a lot of CSI data but still have not clear if there is a why to obtain CSI data without connecting to a router.

For example, I'm scanning wifi devices that sends some info (mac, id major, minor....) every X minutes, but don't connect to a router.

Did you try enabling promiscuous mode

No. Does the promiscuous mode detects wifi signal and without connection get info about CSI?
