Their IDE's a gem. Makes it a pleasure to work with the ESP32 in IDF mode and Arduino mode. Everything ties together nice under the ATOM editor/IDE and makes a clean IDE for most embedded devices. Just install the platform on PlatformIO and go. No futzing with MSYS2 environments, etc.
Problem is, they're lagging behind by at least 1 official release and there's some hooks to get it to build that're not there, so there's some hand-holding it needs from the dev in using the latest official. And I haven't gotten it all sorted out yet. So I fell back to using it the way provided...and got reminded why I'd moved to PlatformIO...
Any way to get some help and some interaction with them?
Any way anyone at Espressif could work with PlatformIO's people?

Thanks for the prompt. I've commented on this issue, interested to see what the platform.io developers have in mind:

Saw that. Also saw the feedback on the issue I pushed. Looking forward to seeing both paths mature- it's promising.ESP_Angus wrote:Thanks for the prompt. I've commented on this issue, interested to see what the platform.io developers have in mind:
