ESP32 Flashing tool not working

Postby kayleejacob1 » Mon Sep 28, 2020 3:52 am

I am using the flashing tool downloaded the latest to try. I need to be able to flash the devices fast if they need program updates.

It is loading into the device but device never boots. Please see screen shot of the flasher screen and the log in the test file.

Can you post the boot log? Are you sure the offsets are correct?

If you are running from battery you might need to do a " RTS reset". it is a way to reboot the ESP32 using the RTS signal of the serial link used to flash the device. On my design, RTS pin of the CP2102 IC is connected to the ESP32 and is doing that.

After flashing with ESP32FLASHTOOL, I need to use a serial terminal and activate the RTS signal. Putty seems to do that automatically, so just connecting to putty wakes up the ESP32, after you can disconnect.

It would be nice to have that included in ESP32flashtool... let me know if it helped.

I realize this is late, but I was messing with the tool today and found in the configure file you can set ESPtool parameters. I set the after from the default no_reset to hard_reset and after programming, it now resets the device after programming.

I hope this helps anyone else that wonders across this thread.

Mike.
