Card Detect pin via hardware controller

Postby dpmcgabriel » Thu May 14, 2020 3:51 am

Dear Espressif,
I am trying to use the full capabilities of the SDMMC driver, but, for some reason I can not make use of the CD pin on the ESP32 driver.
To simplify, I'm putting below a copy of the example, already modified to use the pin 36 as the CD pin, dettached of the rest of my code. Instead of any specific errors, I'm having the pattern output. I even tried to remove it during a operation, but, unffortunetly, I was not able to get any reactions. Also looked to the documentation, but the informations that I found was not compatible with the reality. By the way, the read and write are working fine and the CD pin is in pull up, and becomes GND when the SD is inserted. The problem is just the fact that it does not recognize removal.

Re: Card Detect pin via hardware controller

Postby ESP_igrr » Thu May 14, 2020 7:26 am

Hi dpmcgabriel,

From the log, ESP_ERR_NOT_FOUND error is returned, which looks like the correct behavior in the case when no card is present.
dpmcgabriel wrote: I even tried to remove it during a operation, but, unffortunetly, I was not able to get any reactions.
If you are using the C standard library function for working with files, you need to check return values and 'errno' variable. For low level errors (such as when card is ejected in the middle of the operation), errno will be set to EIO.

ESP_igrr, thanks for your super quick reply.
Attempting to your recommendations, I modified the code to have te 'errno' outputs printed. Everything went all right, and, in fact, when I removed the SD card during a read it returned me a errno 5, that is EIO. But, just to test it, I returned the slot struct configuration to the pattern (no CD pin). And I could see the same behavior... I get an EIO, using or not the CD pin. Is this the correct behavior? And there is no way to have and specific insert or removal error, using the driver? I know that it would be easy to do that with a get_level, but I'm trying to stick with the driver.
