jlink openocd error ?

Anyone know why this is happening ?

Not sure why it specifically gives you an error, but indeed, ESP32 doesn't really have virtual memory. Does it work otherwise? If so, you can ignore that line.

Is there any program running on the ESP32? This smells like the watchdog timer keeps resetting it.

surely the JTAG should stop the watchdog ?
dont know what is running as its a new device.

Device is the esp32-pico-d4

Can you try uploading a known-good program via flash? Not sure if the WDT gets disabled this early in the process.

is there any way to clear the flash sections so just the bootlooader is there ?
thus if it was a wdg issue no apps would be running.

No app being available is the problem, actually: the bootloader tries to load an app, sees none, then waits for the WDT to reset it. I *think* you can try to work around this by starting the ESP32 in download mode by pulling down GPIO0, but I'm not sure about that.

So if i hold the boot switch whilst cycling EN switch i get
