How long before posts appear?

I joined the forum yesterday and made two or three postings. With each posting there was a notice that the postings would need to be moderated before they appeared. 24Hours later they still haven't appeared and in my profile it states that I hadn't made any. I tried to PM an administrator but was told that I hadn't shown 'enough activity' to send a PM.

Hi Tom,

China is on holidays this week for labour day so there are less people checking the forums than usual.

We get occasional waves of spam registrations (which are followed by waves of spam posts or spam PMs), so we moderate the first few posts from each new user and lock out PMs. Your restriction will ease up soon (I think the magic number may be 3, in which case congratulations!).

Thanks for the explanation! Makes perfect sense, although it would be nice if there were more international moderators. In any case, I'm relieved. I was worried that this forum wasn't going to work if it takes more than 24 hours to get a posting to appear! (Almost like the old days!)

As a moderator on some other forums, I'm very aware of the ugly behavior of the people who just want to do harm. We need to take away their Internet access license!
