(answered) question about deep sleep mode

According to the docs,

void esp_deep_sleep(uint64_t time_in_us)
...
This function does not return.
So...when the ESP32 wakes up from a deep sleep, where is control returned?

Waking from deep sleep will go through the normal boot process and restart the app
