TC2030 JTAG Cable

Postby tmiranda » Wed Aug 15, 2018 3:21 pm

Hi guys,

I'm planning to use a TC2030-CTX-NL cable as aa JTAG adapter with an ESP32-WROOM.

I've been looking around to find if they are compatible, but I've had no luck so far. The OpenOCD supported hardware page(http://openocd.org/doc/html/Debug-Adapter-Hardware.html) shows that it's supports Keil ULINKv1, and on the TC2030 (http://www.tag-connect.com/TC2030-CTX-NL) it seems that's similar to the ULINK-2.

Does anyone has used this combination already? (or the ESP32 with ulink1/ulink2)

Thanks in advance.

Hi tmiranda,

Based on the datasheet, TC2030-CTX-NL is just an adapter cable:
[the cable] has a 6-pin TC2030-NL Tag-Connector and a 10-pin ribbon connector that mates with the FTSH-105 style micro-headers used for Cortex Debug as found in debuggers such as Keil's ULINK-2
The datasheet has a photo at the top (with ULINK-2 on it) and a line underneath says "ULINK-2 not included!"

Also as mentioned in the datasheet, the cable includes SWD debug signals, but does not carry all the JTAG signals, missing TDI. ESP32 does not support SWD and needs JTAG signals — TDI, TDO, TMS, TCK — for debugging.
