How to reduce board consumption

Postby SeLoRBIS » Sat May 12, 2018 4:58 pm

Hi,

I have physically remove the led with a solder iron and it works fine.

I've also try to powered my esp32 dev kit (DOIT) with first a 3,7v battery (18650 - 3,7v - 4A) without removed the power led and the battery died after 4-5 days :(

I try with a 9v battery (the board was heating) after removed the power led and the battery died after 2 days

I try this two solutions with the same scenario :
ESPEasy Firmware with a DS18B20, and 1hour deep sleep, with 15sec awake between each deep sleep.
Connection to a broker MQTT by WiFi and send temperature data during the 15sec awake.

I don't understand which consumes so much energy and how I can reduce this consumption.
- Change firmware (ESP-IDF maybe) ?

- Add a voltage regulator and powered the board with 5v or 3.3v instead of the VIN pin ?

- Use a board with integrated battery port ? (like lolin32 with LiPo or lolin32 with Li Ion battery (18650))

- Use a specific power booster like this :

- Increase the deep sleep ?
- Reduce awake time ?

If you have any idea ;)

Thanks
