Like I say in my first post and in the title : I search the best way to powered a ESP32 with the minimal size.
with 18650, LiPo or button cell battery.
But thanks for your answers.
Powered ESP32 with 18650, LiPo, or button battery
Re: Powered ESP32 with 18650, LiPo, or button battery
bumped into this today and thought of you. would this work for you? it has enough output current for the ESP32.

I use one of these for portable esp32 power which works fine

Thanks for the link. This regulator looks nice. I keep the link !!mikemoy wrote:bumped into this today and thought of you. would this work for you? it has enough output current for the ESP32.

in the meantime, i discover (because i've not fully read the doc) that the VIN pin on the dev board accept (6-20v)
https://docs.zerynth.com/latest/officia ... index.html
because the current flows in the board voltage regulator ...
My new question (i create a new topic for that) how to remove power led for opitimize consumption.
Thanks guys !!
Re: Powered ESP32 with 18650, LiPo, or button battery
I've occasionaly (accidently) supplied 12v to my dev kits but you can smell the LDO overheating in a matter of seconds. You would have to add heatsinks / forced cooling. To disable the power led flick it or its resistor off with a sharp tool, or cut the trace.
Re: Powered ESP32 with 18650, LiPo, or button battery
Ok,
I have physically remove the led with a solder iron and it works fine.
I've also try to powered my esp32 dev kit (DOIT) with first a 3,7v battery (18650 - 3,7v - 4A) without removed the power led and the battery died after 4-5 days
I try with a 9v battery (the board was heating) after removed the power led and the battery died after 2 days.
I try this two solutions with the same scenario : ESPEasy Firmware with a DS18B20, and 1hour deep sleep, with 15sec awake between each deep sleep.
Connection to a broker MQTT by WiFi and send temperature data during the 15sec awake.
I don't understand which consumes so much energy and how I can reduce this consumption.
- Change firmware (ESP-IDF maybe) ?
- Add a voltage regulator and powered the board with 5v or 3.3v instead of the VIN pin ?
- Use a board with integrated battery port ? (like lolin32 with LiPo or lolin32 with Li Ion battery (18650))
- Increase the deep sleep ?
- Reduce awake time ?
If you have any idea
Thanks
