The schematic for the ESP_WROVER_KIT shows a 93c46 EEPROM connected to the FT2232HL USB interface chip.
I assume this EEPROM contains boot / control code for the FT2232HL chip. Is this code available if I wanted to duplicate the USB port circuit on my own ESP32-ROVER based board? I can't seem to find any reference to it anywhere.
Thanks,
Don

Re: ESP-WROVER-KIT 93c46 EEPROM
No, it doesn't contain any boot code (because the FT2232 isn't a microcontroller), it can contain configuration (like reported USB strings etc) for the FT2232. I'm, however, not sure if we even write it in our current ATE process. I think there are tools around on the FTDI website to read this EEPROM if you want to be sure.

Hi,
Thanks for the help.
I did read the EEPROM and it was blank (All FF).
Thanks,
Don

Re: ESP-WROVER-KIT 93c46 EEPROM
In case anyone else is wondering whether the EEPROM is at all necessary, it's not. I physically removed it from my ESP32-WROVER-KIT and everything still works as expected. So if you're building a similar system, feel free to omit the EEPROM entirely.
