Is there any idea about next release (V3 ?) of ESP-IDF ?
Even something like not before mm/yy or latest on mm/yy would be helpful.
Its a bit disappointing if you are working on a project.
According to Murphy, as soon as I finish on V2.1, next release with some "minor changes" will appear next day.
Or according to Murphys other hand, I will wait for next release and wait and wait and ....

V3.0 comin soon or ??
Re: V3.0 comin soon or ??
Yes should be soon, probably tried to get it done before oct1 but slipped.

Is there a specific function or set of functions that you are especially going to leverage in 3.0 that aren't present in 2.1? I can see lots of new goodies but am curious if there is something specific you are looking for?

@nkolban
Usually a new version has a lot of bugfixes.
We get fixing of ADC
Memory handling is changed, some renaming, etc.
Last not least, usually all of my testing is done on latest available version.
Therefore lot of work for switching to next version is already done, and I would not like move back to V2.1

Yes unfortunately we couldn't get all the changes ready and tested to roll out the RC1 before the Golden week. We have started pre-release testing now, if there are no critical issues, will release RC1 next week.
W.r.t. no commits to Github this week, China is currently experiencing higher than normal rate of, ahem, connectivity issues, which are affecting our CI environment. We are trying to work around that as well.
