BLE Mesh and BLE coexistence

Hi,

is it possible to have a ble mesh client node that would at the same time be able to communicate with a smartphone via BLE GATT services (and characteristics). I would want to write and read data from custom defined characteristics so it does not affect the mesh network. Is this possible and are there any available examples/guides on how to achieve this?
