[Solved] ESP32 WIFI connection problem with HTTP requests

Hey everyone!

I'm a beginner with ESP32 ESP-IDF development and I have ESP32-C6.

I'm trying to connect my ESP32 to WiFi AP which works just fine until I try to add code for some HTTP requests after which the board won't connect anymore.
I'm using the getting_started/station example from Github and it works great; my board connects to the AP of specified SSID and password and I can confirm it from the AP itself. Which bothers me is when I add functionality with esp_http_client the board won't connect to the AP anymore and I can't understand why. I have tried many variations of the WiFi Station and HTTP request code but always the same; works fine without the HTTP request and won't connect at all when I add the code for HTTP request. Even when the code for the HTTP request shouldn't even execute before the WiFi connection code.
Am I just not understanding how the ESP-IDF works or are there some config settings for the WiFi I'm missing or what could be the matter?

Here's the full code. If I comment out the http_request() function at the end the board connects to WiFi AP normally. When I have the http_request() function called at any point in the code the board just won't connect anymore and retries for maximum retry count after it tries to run the http_request() function which runs but obviously fails without the internet connection. Any advice to solve this problem is very welcome. Thanks!

Hey, after being stuck for many days with this problem I finally figured I have to manually enable the HTTP component from the config file. So for anyone with the same problem check that the HTTP client is enabled.
