In developing for the S3, I'm using the ESP32-S3-devkitC. Out of ten units, I've damaged about two of them now. It looks like I am destroying the native USB drivers on the chip at GPIO19 and 21, not the CP210 UART.
I can still program through the CP210, so the processor is still alive, but my board uses the native USB.
I don't have anything connected, but USB to those pins, and the schematic for devKitC shows it has protection diodes. Are other people having problems with the onboard port? Should I be taking extra precautions on my board?
ESP32-S3 delicate USB on GPIO19 and GPIO21?
Re: ESP32-S3 delicate USB on GPIO19 and GPIO21?
I think you can "repair" those devices when you start using the correct pins for native USB, GPIO19 and GPIO20 instead of 19 and 21.
