Complete Newby IDE issues

Hello everyone,

I am new to the ESP32 family. I recently picked up an 8266 to try a few projects that I intend to use in the classroom to help some students learn more about coding etc.

I am using Arduino IDE, but cannot install the 8266 boards from Board Manager. I have atached the screenshot of the error. https://imgur.com/a/xfwpBH2

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the IDE, restarting computer etc.

Does anyone have any advice on what I could do to get the download working?

I believe you are not loading the correct esp8266 boards library. When I put the full name "ESP8266" in the search box, I get the library that is version 3.1.2. Your image shows something that is 2.3.
