is esp8266-arduino project still maintained?

• latest release 3.1.2 dates from 1.5 years
• latest commit dates from 4 months
• it is based in NONOS sdk firmware, that is deprecated some years ago in favor of RTOS one
• forums are closed, that is for what i am writing here xD
• documentation seem incomplete in some cases (line SNTP that is not even mentioned)
• maybe more problems

what happens with esp8266-arduino project?
