I seem to have received a 'faulty' esp32box with an issue detecting the wake word, i'm sure it a simple HW issue and I am more than happy to try repairing this instead just returning it, I had to wait 5 weeks to receive it.

I have updated it to the latest FW

If you are willing to try to fix it yourself, you can try to disassemble it. The microphones are on a separate board that is connected to the main board with a 6-pin FPC cable; it would probably be a good idea to check if that is still inserted and snug.

Please try to use the voice from this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n0jH1Brmee8 to wake up the device.

hi ESP_Sprite, I have disassemble unit and checked cable and appearance was ok, I removed cable and refitted but unit still didnt respond to sound, as cable is not polarised I reversed cable incase of a bad cable/conductor but still no change.

hi ESP_Rachel, I have tried unit with video but no response, i have uploaded video here.

Thanks for keeping the patience with us. Please download and flash the test file (https://github.com/alic-maker/failure-a ... x_test.bin) and use 'Alexa' to wake-up up your device. If it still fails to respond. Please contact our customer service for after-sale support.

It Responds!

I have downloaded and flashed 'test.bin'

It recognizes 'alexa' (from upto 3m distance) and 'turn on the light' & 'turn off the light' so this proves HW is functional, but it will not respond to hi-esp with other firmwares, this is very very puzzling that firmware ok for everyone else does not work for my unit?

why does my box not work with current firmware?

My unit is same as shown in 'second batch' with 2 screws to rear of case

It’s glad to hear that the hardware works on the new application firmware. We will soon, expect next week, release new firmware that updates the wake-up engine. Please update later. For the details of how the algorithm works, please refer to https://github.com/espressif/esp-sr
The reason your unit was not responding to the default firmware is that the wake word algorithm used for “hi esp”, whose datasets were not diverse enough to include the people with different accents.

Here is a tip, you can speak “hi e. s. p” a little fast and the pronounce “p” more clear. It seems it' s more friendly for you to use Alexa now.

Kindly remind: we have updated the new application firmware, which updates the speech recognition model, add features of continuous identification, the GUI interface is compatible with current two box series development boards. You can download and experience it. https://github.com/espressif/esp-box

Hi, I have a similar problem. Yesterday, after a long time, the ESP32-S3-BOX-3 arrived and my microphone does not work. I found out when I installed Home Assistatnt voice. When I went back to the original ESP firmware, it doesn't respond to the hi esp command either. Is there any way to find out or test whether the device has a working microphone??? Thank you.
