ESP-01 module grouping data packets together

Hello, I'm having trouble with my ESP-01 module grouping together multiple messages into one. Messages come from a python script on a pc individually, but when they are read by the Arduino from the ESP-01 module, they are grouped into bunches with pauses in between. As these commands are controls for an RC robot, I would like them to be passed straight through to the Arduino to reduce input latency.
The image below is my Arduino serial monitor output, with the time in milliseconds printed out in the first column. I can see that there is a roughly 100ms delay between these groupings of messages.
For extra information, the ESP-01 is the server and the pc python program is the client.
Any ideas on how these messages can come through as soon as they are received? Thanks in advance
