Hi,
Long time user of VSCode and long time programmer of various micros - AVR, Pico, ESP8266.
Picked up two ESP32-C6 Dev modules with a view to Zigbee development.
Searched for the ESP-IDF extension in VSCode and found that most of the links on the "Install" page return 404 errors.
Went to idf.espressif.com and navigated to the "VScode Extension" link and get a similar result. They all point to a URL similar to "https://github.com/espressif/vscode-esp ... install.md" which, as far as I can tell, doesn't exist.
If I look at the Ratings link in the Extensions Marketplace, the replies from Espressif Systems all point to the same location.
So I installed and configured the extension anyway (which appeared to complete successfully) and attempted to build the Blink example and it failed. I didn't bother looking too hard at the errors yet as it seems that there may be a more fundamental issue which I need to resolve.
Do "https://github.com/espressif/vscode-esp ... sion/blob/...." style URLs exist at present?
I would prefer to use VSCode on Windows but I'm happy to switch to Linux and/or Eclipse if there is another environment which works out of the box?
Thanks,
Paul.

Re: ESP-IDF Extension for VSCode 404 Errors
Hi Paul,
Thank you for posting a question to the forum.
We are currently migrating the documentation for the upcoming release of the ESP-IDF VSCode extension, and we apologize for the temporary broken links.
The new location for the extension documentation is: https://docs.espressif.com/projects/vsc ... en/latest/
Also the readme for the extension has been improved, please use the new document at : https://github.com/espressif/vscode-esp ... /README.md
This is the content that will show up for users once the upcoming release is complete.
As for an environment to "work out of the box" we are working to have a similar experience on either Windows, Linux or Mac, I would not advise you to change the operating system that you most familiar.
Please refer to the updated documentation and if you have any issues feel free to reach out to us at anytime.
Best Regards,
Fabricio

Re: ESP-IDF Extension for VSCode 404 Errors
Hi Fabricio,
Thank you for the prompt reply.
I'm grateful for the updated information.
I've been a programmer for several decades so I'm pretty much equally familiar with VSCode, Eclipse, Windows and Linux and many others. I'll try them all out and see which one works best for me. Despite my previous comments regarding preference for Windows, I generally find Linux and the command line to be best for this kind of toolchain so I'll probably move in that direction.
Thank you again.
Paul.
