Hi emaayan,

I would suggest to make a clean installation of ESP-IDF, using the ESP-IDF INSTALLER Tool 2.3 and try to go through our VS Code extension's Installation guide

Let me know if you need further assistance!

Hello,
I have the same problem, which seems to me to have appeared with version 1.6.0 of the plugin. After installing the plugin, I am unable to perform the configuration. I have no problem with Eclipse environment or command line, only integration in VS code fails. The solution you suggest doesn't fix the problem. I tried a clean installation: Espressif IDE + VSCODE, but the trouble is always alive! The message is espIdf.setup.start not found. My question, where should this command/file be? With the previous version of the plugin, I had no problem.
Thank for your help.

Here are my Env related to Espressif:

ESP_IDF_VERSION=5.0
IDF_CCACHE_ENABLE=1
IDF_PATH=D:\Espressif\frameworks\esp-idf-v5.0
IDF_PYTHON_ENV_PATH=d:\Espressif\python_env\idf5.0_py3.8_env
IDF_TOOLS_PATH=d:\Espressif
OPENOCD_SCRIPTS=d:\Espressif\tools\openocd-esp32\v0.11.0-esp32-20221026\openocd-esp32\share\openocd\scripts
PYTHONNOUSERSITE=True
RMAKER_PATH=D:\Espressif\esp-rainmaker

This is a bug of the extension version 1.6.0, I tried 1.5.1, and it works
