VSC extension and Arduino as component

Hello,

I want to use Arduino as component (I use VSC extension with windows 10). In the GUI configuration I don't see the Arduino option we can have in make menuconfig ?
If I try to launch menuconfig, then a message say : "IDF_PATH environment variable needs to be set to use this tool". Need to set it or is there an other better way to set arduino options ?

don't speak clearly to me...For example : is the master branch of Arduino core compatible with IDFv4 ? Will the Arduino libraries appears in the ">PROJECT COMPONENTS" of VSC and how add then an addafruit Arduino library for example (need to compile something again or not) ?
