Hi,
I wanted to know which IDE is most suitable for the linux in terms of better performance, easy usable, support?
Best IDE for Linux - Eclipse or Visual Studio?
Re: Best IDE for Linux - Eclipse or Visual Studio?
Well, considering Visual Studio is a Micro$uck product........ I wouldn't expect it to work on Linux too well. Kind of a given. Conflicting interests.
That being said, my first and really only success integrating ESP-IDF into any IDE was with eclipse-CDT. And even then I'm having problems. I tried VSCodium (FOSS version of Visual Studio code) and it was literally impossible. Literally, as in, it is stated to not have the right stuff on the tin. So, I tried Full and Proper VScode. Supposed to work and be supported, and I could get it all installed, but I could NOT get it to actually program chips. I got eclipse working right off the bat.

Use neither as both are bloated. I use geany which works nicely.
If you want I post the Geany configuration I use.

IDEs are almost personal things… much as editors.
That said, I'm using Visual Studio Code w/ the ESP-IDF extension. With this setup, I can move between IDE and command line without any friction.
