Password Protection for ESP32 (Irrespective of Internet Connection)

Hello Users,
I am a newbie and have a question regarding the feasibility of a project.
Case I: Lets Say I am connected to Wifi-Router and find myself in the Internet, now I further want to communicate with ESP32 (lets say to turn On/Off my LED) but upon making a request to communicate with ESP32, the ESP32 should ask me a Password so that the ESP32 knows that the user is authentic and is allowed to communicate.
Case II: Similar to case I but the only difference is that I am not connected to my Wifi-Router and want to communicate with ESP32.
Please let me know about the feasibility of the cases?
Furthermore, it will be great if you can guide me to achieve the same.
Thanking you in anticipation!!!
Regards
