ESP32 Flash Download Tool: usable via commandline?

Hello,

we are planning to program the ESP32 in production process.
Currently, we are using a GUI tool which can program several different device types, ESP32 being just one of them.
The optimal solution would be: the GUI tool calls the Flash Download Tool and passes command line parameters to it.
Here are my questions:
  • Can the Flash Download Tool be started with command line parameters (e.g. image file, COM port...)?
  • Are there other possible solutions (e.g. using the Flash Download Tool config files, e.g. FLASH_DOWNLOAD_TOOLS_V3.6.3\configure\esp32\spi_download.conf)?
  • If so, is a documentation available for the options in the config files?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
Best Regards, Timm

Howdy Timm,
I'm probably missing something obvious here ... but can you not drive the flashing of your ESP32 with the "esptool" described here:

https://github.com/espressif/esptool

This appears to be a veritable swiss army knife of capabilities and can be used just fine in scripts or via program execution.

Howdy Kolban,

thank you very much for pointing out the right direction :-)
I was only aware of the GUI programmer tool until now.
