Possibel wifi_provisioning code bug?

I'm trying to wifi provision a ESP32 chip from an angular app. Everything generally works, except that when I try to provision an existing unsecured wifi access point with a password (when password should be blank), the wifi provisioning code gives a WifiConnectFailedReason value of 1 (which pertains to NetworkNotFound in the wifi_constants.proto file) instead of 0 (which pertains to AuthError). The SSID is a valid one and the chip can connect to it normally. Any idea how to address this issue?
