Hi All,
Does anybody know where I can buy an ESP32-S3-PICO-1-N8R2 Dev. board? The controller was available 6 months ago. See the link at reddit. https://www.reddit.com/r/esp32/comments ... mentioned/

I have not seen a Dev. board from Espressif.  Usually they would have a low cost Dev. board available for a new controller. 
From the ESP32-S3-PICO-1-N8R2 datasheet, it shows the same pinmap of the ESP32-S3FH4R2. I replaced the S3FH4R2 with the S3-PICO-1-N8R2 on 3 working boards, but none of them worked. I didn't even get the usual acknowledge chime when the board is plugged in. In the past I could easily replace the S3FH4R2 with an ESP32-S3(FN8).

Do they really have the same pinmap?
Has anyone successfully made an ESP32-S3-PICO-1-N8R2 Dev. board?

Since my test on F8R2 failed on my S3 boards, I decided to  test the official S3 Dev board made by Espressif. 
At first I made sure that both USB native and USB to UART ports would work.  I could upload the Blink-A-LED and an external LED flashed as I expected.

Then I removed the metal cover on the WROOM module, the S3 chip and the external flash memory chip.  The S3 chip is F0R8.
I evenly re-tined the pads of the new F8R2 chip and pads on the PCB, then cleaned up with alcohol.  Soldered the F8R2 with a hot air gun.  I did such a thing many times before.

Then I tested the USB/UART port. It worked like a normal ESP32 PICO board.  After uploading, an external LED flashed automatically.  Unfortunately the USB native port still did not work, no USB communication, nothing from Device Manager.  It's the same result I got from testing on my other S3 boards.
 
Since the Blink-A-LED was flashed in the F8R2 chip by the USB/UART port, it runs after power up or reset.  So the F8R2 chip is not defective and can run code in flash memory. If code is programmed by a JTAG  programmer, or a FTDI adapter in an application, then it will work fine. But for many applications the native USB interface must work.

Can Espressif employees or consultants on this forum make some comments?

Did you remove the crystal and capacitors as well?
