ESP Now Channel

We have a system using ESP NOW where all modules are set as stations and registered with channel 1. They will not be connecting to other networks.
What I'm wondering is if it is ever necessary to change the WiFi Channel when using ESP NOW?
If so what is the proper way of changing the channel?
