ESP32-S3: Read serial data via USB Port

Postby rspitz » Sun Apr 23, 2023 11:26 am

Hello all,

as a complete newbie to ESP32 programming, I am trying to process serial data from an external passive device, using the S3's internal USB port. I've successfully built the cdc_acm_vcp example from ESP-IDF and can read data from a CP2102 usb2serial adapter connected to the USB port of my ESP32-S3 DevKit C, but now I'm at a loss on how to proceed from there.

I'm looking for a way to work with these data as if they came from the builtin UART pins (RX/TX), so I can adapt code that was written for serial communication.

I hope I was able to explain what I'm trying to do. Any hints/example code on how to proceed?

Regards, Richard

BTW: I've been trying to use the search function of this board, but all I got were HTTP 500 errors, seems like the server is overloaded.
