ESP32 USB or UART

Hi Team,

I am planning a product using ESP32 S3 for STEM product for kids

As per the following link the ESP32 can be flashed or program using built in PC to USB

But most of development boards are using USB to UART

Can we do everything communication using built in USB with PC without using external PC to UART circuit

What is the advantage use of external USB to UART bridge

Please advice
