ESP32 serial interface problem

Hi people,
I was able to compile the esp32 firmware and flash it successfully.
When connecting with the serial interface to the esp32 all looks good but when entering code to the lua interpreter, I don't see what I'm typing. When pressing the enter button, I all of the sudden see what I have entered. Apparently I don't receive echo what I type in the serial interface.
Does someone have made a similar experience?
