Simple definition about the Wifi SoC

I'd like to ask a question.

When we define the WiFi SoC, could it be a sub-branch of MCU? Or we just separate them simply, then what is difference between SoC and MCU? Since I'm just a beginner in this area, I need to clarify such definition. Hope you could help me answer the question.
