Hello

First post on this forum. I'm looking to select a ESP32 develpment board but can't find the information.

I want to create a temperature controller for my BBQ that would be linked to the Internet. The device would be located outside about 40 meters to the home wifi router. I had no so good experience with an WIFI add-on for an Arduino board in the past.

My interogation is what is a reasonable distance from the device to the router to have a stable connection using the onboard antenna? Should I select a development board with an external antenna? The board won't be in a direct line view to the router.

I am an amateur with these device and, English is not my first language so please excuse me if the question is either badly asked or irrelevent...

My experience of the ESP32 is that Wi-fi performance is inferior to that obtained by using a smartphone.
