creating a custom esp32 PCB

Postby gonadgranny » Fri Oct 09, 2020 9:32 am

HI there. I would like to create my own PCB using the esp32 wroom module to be programmed through the arduino IDE basing it on this https://cdn.sparkfun.com/assets/6/d/c/6 ... ematic.pdf circuit. I programmed an ATMEGA328p which i bought as a standalone IC and i had to create a special circuit to upload the Arduino bootloader before i could upload via serial from the arduino IDE. Will i need to do this to program the esp32 chip for the first time or can i replicate the circuitry of the linked schematic and upload via serial straight off the bat? I also would rather use a ch340 serial to ttl IC since i have some knocking about and they are easier to hand solder. would this be an appropriate chip to use for the esp32? Many thanks.
