Hi,
I'm new to this forum and I hope someone can help me with following issue:
I am working on a project with an ESP32-DEVKITC32D since a few months.
I wanted to order a few more modules from Digikey to make additional prototypes and to my surprise the ESP32-DEVKITC32D is set to "Obsolete" on their site.
The alternative is a ESP32-DEVKITC32D-F that has receptacles instead of pin headers.
According to the pictures, these receptacles are mounted on the top side of the module which seems very strange to me since the switches next to the USB connector will not be accessible if the module is plugged upside down on another PCBA.
See: https://www.digikey.be/product-detail/e ... ND/9693290
Strange enough the part number with -F at the end doesn't seem to exist on the Espressif website.
So, here's my question : is the pin header version still available?
Thanks for your help.
Robert
ESP32-DEVKITC32D replaced by ESP323-DEVKITC32D-F ?
Re: ESP32-DEVKITC32D replaced by ESP323-DEVKITC32D-F ?
Thanks Mike,
I looked at Digikey because I also wanted to order another development kit that Mouser doesn't have.
Anyway, I'll order the ESP32 kit from Mouser.
I'm still confused about this -F variant with receptacles sold by Digikey. Maybe I should ask them to clarify.

Re: ESP32-DEVKITC32D replaced by ESP323-DEVKITC32D-F ?
I am also wondering about this, but with regards to the Pico Kit. The version with male headers has disappeared from DigiKey and many other vendors. DigiKey now just has a version with female headers (on top!). Mouser still has some with male headers, but for how long? Once they deplete their current stock, will it also be replaced with the female header version?
I see on the Espressif Pico Kit documentation page that one of the images has been replaced with the female header version (but still leaving two photos of the male header version). Is Espressif producing both versions or have they silently decided to replace the male header versions?

The male header version will not be replaced. Both the male & female header version is available in Espressif's product list.
Re: ESP32-DEVKITC32D replaced by ESP323-DEVKITC32D-F ?
Thank you, ESP_Peter. I will contact DigiKey and see if they have plans to bring back the male-header version (which they had marked as obsolete).

Hi savage,
Can you keep us posted of Digikey's reply? Thanks.

Good news! DigiKey said they will be restocking the Pico Kit with male headers, though it will take a few weeks.
I did not ask about the Dev Kit, so I am not sure if DigiKey will be restocking those as well. Robert_B, you could drop them a note yourself and let them know (a) the part is not obsolete and (b) you prefer that version to the version they list as a replacement.
