Module Mass / Weight approximation

Postby mark.c » Wed Apr 26, 2017 7:11 pm

I've got my first prototyping modules on order, but they're the bigger devices with handy legs, USB-serial onboard. Anybody happen to have or be willing to check the mass of a plain WROOM32 module? And/or any of the older ESP8266 modules? I've got some prototyping to do, but I'm considering a number of aerial applications, and robo-blimps are incredibly weight sensitive.

Just pulled a plain WROOM32 module from the tape packaging. On the household scale I'm reading 2 grams.

kind regards,
Martijn

Awesome, thank you for measuring. Heavier than I hoped, but hopefully workable. If I really get extreme I could look at using the raw chips, but that's some serious reach for my fabrication skills.

2g for a WRoom32 means I can start planning the rest of my construction by weight. Worst case scenario I'll just have to prototype with bigger balloons.

Thanks again!
