WiFi Alliance Certification

Postby ctmurp » Wed Jul 08, 2020 5:21 pm

Hello:

We are currently working on a product utilizing the ESP32 in which we developed our own RF section and are not using a module. We have gone through WFA certification previously on some of our other products; however, they utilized different chipsets other than Expressif. Our current product is the first time we are utilizing an Expressif chipset.

We are looking for information and pre built software images to load onto our board in order to execute the WFA certification tests. The only thing we have been able to find for ESP32 is the RF performance tester app, which seems to be more geared towards the FCC RF testing portion.

My question is, is the intention that the RF performance tester application can also be used for WFA certification testing? Are there any pre built ESP32 images we can load onto our boards with associated PC / desktop software or are we going to have to develop our own firmware image for the testing?

Any information is appreciated.

HI ctmurp,

RF performance tester application can't be used for WFA certification testing. Currently we haven't made WFA certification BIN public, you can send mail to sales@espressif.com to get the WFA certification BIN.

We have similar request and have sent that to sales@.

Will those binaries support pin remapping? The assertion I am making here is that the binarys would great for the Espressif evaluation boards. It is not known if the binaries support different pin mappings (for example, serial port moved to different pins).

Current WFA certification BIN doesn't support pin remapping, suggest to get support from sales@espressif.com.
