No plans at this point that I know of. Issue mostly is that WiFi direct is not supported on all platforms, and (from what I understand) the WiFi Direct device needs to be able to talk on the same frequency as the access point; if the access point is 5GHz, that won't work as our chips at this point in time are only capable of 2.4GHz communications.

I would like to use wifi direct only in smartphone with android and ios to communicate with esp32.
To my knowledge all smartphones support 2.4ghz. Some or most smartphones support dual band 2.4ghz / 5ghz.

Yes, I understand what you want. What I am saying is that WiFi Direct at this point most likely is too limited in general use for us to make it into a high priority to develop.
