controlling steppers with ESP32?

Greets! New to ESP32 - very 'wowed' by all it's capabilities. I have seem some reference to using MCPWM to run steppers but seeing much info. Is this possible/good idea? If you can - could acceleration/decel be created with it? Looking to replace the GREAT Accelstepper from the Arduino world.
