The ESP32 Dev circuit has 2@ 2N2222 that can be used to drive EN and IO-0. Under what circumstances are these required/activated?
I am building my own PCB using the EPS32-WROOM module and wonder if I need the 2N2222s. My preference would be to use the common little module with a CP2102 and a 6 pin header. However those do NOT bring out the RTS needed to drive the 2N2222. I do plan to install momentary switches for manual EN and IO-0 activation during Boot.
For now I'm using the Arduino IDE and I don't think they use RTS/DTR.
thanks...
Cp2102-ESP32 do I need the 2N2222s ?
Re: Cp2102-ESP32 do I need the 2N2222s ?
Not required as long as you don't mind entering download mode manually with button or jumper. It is convenient for development with frequently reflashing.

Just put a 6 pin header on your board and buy one of these. It will do what you want.
